Los Angeles police identified Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old Florida woman, as the suspect accused of opening fire on Rihanna’s Southern California home with an AR-15-style rifle.
Authorities said Ortiz was booked on suspicion of attempted murder after the Sunday afternoon shooting at the property in the Beverly Crest area, just north of Beverly Hills.
Police said the nine-time Grammy winner was inside the home when shots were fired, but she was not hurt. Authorities said the gunfire struck exterior areas of the property, and investigators examined apparent bullet damage near the front gate.
What police say happened at Rihanna’s home
Police said the suspect drove up to the property’s entrance at about 1:15 p.m. PDT on Sunday, March 8, 2026, and began shooting.
Investigators described the weapon as an AR-15-style rifle and said multiple rounds hit the property, including exterior surfaces.
According to police, the suspect fled after firing, and officers later took her into custody. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is handling the investigation, and authorities said they were still working to determine why the home was targeted.
Who was inside and what is confirmed about injuries
Police said Rihanna was not injured, and no injuries were reported among others at the residence. NBC Los Angeles reported that A$AP Rocky and the couple’s children were also inside the home at the time of the shooting, citing police.
Authorities have not released public details about whether anyone else was on the property, nor have they provided a public statement from Rihanna or her representatives. As of Monday, no motive had been announced and officials said the investigation remained active.
Arrest, bail, and what authorities have not released
Ortiz was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, and jail records listed bail at $10.225 million. Police did not immediately release additional details about the arrest process, including whether officers recovered the firearm during the stop or later through follow-up investigative steps.
Officials also have not described any prior connection between the suspect and Rihanna.
Investigators typically look at a range of possibilities in a case like this, including fixation, mistaken address, personal disputes, and other triggers, but police have not said which theories, if any, are driving the investigation.
