Pop icon Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce have officially announced their engagement after two years of high-profile dating.
The couple shared the news Tuesday in a joint Instagram post, confirming that Kelce proposed in a private garden setting and that Swift said yes.
The announcement included a series of photos capturing the moment, including a close-up of the engagement ring — a large diamond set in yellow gold.
The caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” referencing Swift’s songwriting career and Kelce’s athletic background.
From Eras Tour to the NFL Sideline
Swift and Kelce first caught public attention in 2023, when the Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour performances in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kelce later shared on his “New Heights” podcast that he had planned to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it — a tradition among fans at Swift’s concerts.
Although he was not able to meet her backstage, the gesture reportedly got Swift’s attention. In an interview with Time magazine that year, she described the move as “metal as hell.”
The couple began spending time together shortly afterward, with Swift making her first public appearance at a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears in September 2023.
Growing Relationship in the Public Eye
Since then, Swift has been a consistent presence at Kelce’s games, including traveling directly from a concert in Tokyo to witness the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024.
The pair celebrated publicly on the field of Allegiant Stadium, with affectionate moments captured by broadcast cameras.
Kelce acknowledged the public scrutiny in an interview ahead of the AFC Championship game in January 2024. “As long as we’re happy, we can’t listen to anything that’s outside noise,” he said.
Swift, no stranger to media attention, appeared equally comfortable navigating the spotlight.

Swift’s 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department included two tracks — “The Alchemy” and “So High School” — that fans believe were inspired by her relationship with Kelce.
The songs include football-themed metaphors and romantic themes, suggesting a connection to the NFL player.
During her 87th show of the Eras Tour — a subtle nod to Kelce’s jersey number — in Paris, Swift performed “The Alchemy” as one of her surprise songs while wearing red and yellow, colors associated with the Chiefs. Kelce was in attendance.
