Former President Bill Clinton has sparked renewed concerns about his health after he was spotted at an airport in the Hamptons accompanied by what appeared to be a portable defibrillator.
Photographs circulating online show someone in Clinton’s entourage carrying a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag, a device commonly used in emergency cardiac situations. The 79-year-old Democrat was traveling with his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, when the images were taken.
The sighting follows a recent incident in June, when Clinton was seen stumbling outside the 92NY cultural center in New York City after promoting his latest book, First Gentleman, co-authored with novelist James Patterson.
Decades of public health issues
Clinton’s health history has been under public scrutiny since his presidency ended in 2001. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery after doctors discovered severe blockage in his arteries. At the time, he admitted he had ignored symptoms.
“That was my fault. I don’t blame my doctors or anybody else,” Clinton told Diane Sawyer in a widely watched interview. “I was insufficiently vigilant.”
In 2010, he returned to the hospital for the insertion of coronary stents. Following that procedure, he publicly embraced a plant-based diet, earning recognition from PETA as their “Person of the Year” for promoting heart health.
Despite his dietary changes, Clinton has faced multiple health setbacks in recent years. He was hospitalized in 2021 for a urinary tract infection that led to sepsis, battled COVID-19 in 2022, and was again hospitalized for the flu shortly after.

The presence of medical equipment has prompted speculation online, with some questioning whether Clinton’s health might hinder future public engagements.
Meanwhile, Clinton remains a well-known figure in New York political and social circles. A favorite story among locals is his infamous order at Katz’s Delicatessen, once displayed at the restaurant: two hot dogs, a pastrami sandwich, fries, diet ginger ale, and decaf coffee.
