President Donald Trump made it clear Friday that he has no intention of speaking with Elon Musk amid their increasingly public and bitter feud.
In comments to Fox News’ Bret Baier, Trump dismissed Musk outright, stating, “Elon’s totally lost it,” and brushing aside concerns over the billionaire’s threat to form a new political party.
Asked whether he’s concerned about Musk’s recent suggestions that he might back or form a new political party, Trump responded with characteristic confidence.
“I’m not worried,” he told Fox News, citing favorable polling numbers and “strong support from Republicans on Capitol Hill.”
The statement suggests Trump believes his political dominance within the GOP remains unshaken—despite the noise coming from the tech mogul.
The comments follow days of escalating rhetoric between the two high-profile figures, as Musk’s criticisms of Trump’s administration—and particularly of the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill”—have intensified.
The feud appears to have started brewing weeks ago, but exploded publicly this week after Musk took aim at both policy and personal issues.
Musk’s Accusations Spark White House Outrage
On Thursday, Musk posted on X that Trump’s name appeared in the Jeffrey Epstein files—a claim that remains unverified and explosive in nature. “@RealDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote.
“That is the real reason they have not been made public.” He followed with another post stating, “The truth will come out.”
The White House dismissed the claim as a desperate distraction. Trump himself responded on Truth Social, saying Musk “went CRAZY” after Trump removed electric vehicle (EV) mandates that previously benefited Tesla. “Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave,” Trump wrote. “I took away his EV Mandate… and he just went CRAZY!”
Trump Doubles Down on “Big Beautiful Bill”
The catalyst for the feud appears to be Trump’s flagship spending and tax reform package, the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Musk harshly criticized the bill earlier this week, calling it a “disgusting abomination” and accusing lawmakers of stuffing it with unnecessary and bloated spending.
Trump, however, has defended the bill as one of the most significant pieces of legislation in decades.
“This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress,” Trump wrote Thursday on Truth Social. “It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given.”
He also warned that failure to pass the bill would trigger devastating tax increases. “If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT,” Trump wrote. “This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Although Trump made it clear he has no interest in talking to Musk directly, senior White House aides indicated they may still reach out.
According to Fox News’ Peter Doocy, officials are attempting to manage the political fallout from Musk’s comments and prevent further division on the right.
