President Donald Trump announced plans for a unique celebration of America’s upcoming 250th birthday: hosting a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House.
Speaking at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Thursday, Trump revealed the proposal as part of the broader “America250” events set to honor the nation’s history in 2026.
During his speech on the eve of Independence Day, Trump detailed how America’s semiquincentennial would be marked by events at national parks, battlefields, and historic sites across the country. But the standout proposal involved bringing the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to the White House lawn.
“Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight — think of this — on the grounds of the White House,” Trump told a cheering crowd.
“We have a lot of land there. We’re going to build a little — we’re not, Dana is going to do it. Dana is great, one of a kind — going to be a UFC fight, championship fight, full fight, like 20,000 to 25,000 people, and we’re going to do that as part of ‘250’ also.”
Details Still Unconfirmed as National Park Service Remains Silent
While Trump’s announcement drew excitement from supporters, formal plans for the event remain in the preliminary stages.
The National Park Service, which oversees the White House grounds, has not commented on the feasibility of such a large-scale sporting event at the historic site. Nor has UFC issued a formal statement to confirm or deny participation in the plan.
Without official permits or logistical details, questions remain about how a fight of this magnitude could be staged on the White House lawn, an area typically reserved for official ceremonies, state events, and public tours.
A Longstanding Alliance
Trump’s connection to the UFC is well documented. The president frequently appears at major UFC events and has long been a vocal supporter of the organization.
Just last month, Trump attended UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey, where he received a raucous welcome from fans as he walked the arena floor alongside Dana White.
A similar scene played out at UFC 314 in Miami, where Trump was accompanied by family members and top officials, including his granddaughter Kai Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel.
The proposed UFC fight would be part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to deliver a memorable and distinctly American celebration for the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
